100000 likes!

I feel bad for people older than me living in Prague. They survived communism, and the transition away from it in the 80s and 90s. They survived the breakup of chzeckosolokia and the velvet divorce. They survived the dot com boom, y2k, and the flooding of 2001. They even managed to make it through covid, just to see today.

Today, where Prague is overrun with tech bros, pornstars, and vapid tourists. Today where the West has made their town a major hub of sex tourism, and the adult film industry. Today where everyone under 30 dresses like an extra from a porn movie.

I can’t imagine what it would be like, to grow up under the hammer and sycle, to today’s Prague of vice and excess.

Berlin mini-marts: 15 varieties of yougurt. 25 types of sparkling water. Jaegermeister.

Prague mini-marts: 30 varieties of Pringles. 50 types of Gummi bears. 10 different brands of absinthe.

Crazy how different these two neighbors are.

I’m amused that there are no bears at the Berlin Zoo. It’s the iconic animal of the city, yet there’s none there.

Shoes I bought for walking around European cites: 0

European cobblestones and museums: 2

I feel like I should have learned from my last trip here, but once again, my feet are aching after only a few days.
